The National Society Daughters of the American Revolution is unique. It is a non-profit, non-political patriotic lineage organization for women in all fifty states and in twelve different countries. Our national headquarters encompasses an entire block in Washington, D.C. and it is one of the world’s largest buildings of its kind owned and maintained exclusively by women.

Peter Minuit Chapter, NSDAR, is special too. Our chapter was created in 1969, by and for "career girls". We have always held our chapter meetings in order to accommodate members work schedules. Although some of our members are retired or stay-at-home mothers, most of us have worked outside the home. Our members are actors, investment bankers, teachers, lawyers, and everything in between. We are native New Yorkers and women who have moved here from all over the country. We are women from many different ethnic backgrounds who share common interests in education, history, historic preservation, and patriotism. If our members find themselves to be too busy during the week to attend chapter meetings and/or are looking for opportunities to socialize, our programming includes monthly weekend outings at various historic and cultural places of interest throughout the city.

Our chapter has thrived in recent years because of a renewed interest in all the DAR has to offer and the friendships it helps to create and nourish. When the pandemic drove us inside into isolation and introspection, we saw that our membership grew as people’s interest turned towards knowing more about where they came from. Some of our members have recently researched their family histories to prepare their membership applications, while others are second, third, or even fourth generation members. The DAR welcomes us all. If you're thinking of joining the DAR, please contact us so that we can show you what we have to offer.
